A restore can solve one problem while creating another if the backup predates legitimate changes.
When only a few files are damaged, restore those files individually instead of an entire directory. If the existing file may contain newer work, download or rename it before restoration.
For large restores, make a temporary copy of the current site or database when practical. This gives you a way to retrieve content created after the backup date.
