How to Recover public_html Files from a Full cPanel Backup Print

To recover website files manually from a full account backup, work from a copy of the archive rather than editing the original backup.

  1. Extract the .tar.gz archive on a computer with enough free space.
  2. Locate the archive's home-directory content.
  3. Open the backed-up public_html directory.
  4. Identify only the files or directories that need recovery.
  5. Use cPanel File Manager to upload them to the corresponding live location.

Uploading an older copy over an existing file replaces newer content. Compare dates or keep a copy of the current live file before overwriting anything important.
