A temporary domain is an automatically generated cpanel.site-based hostname that can be used while a registered domain is not yet ready.
Current cPanel documentation notes important limitations: temporary domains do not support normal DNS editing, email services, or cPanel's Search Engine Optimization feature. They are intended as provisional website addresses rather than permanent public domain identities.
Common use
- Begin building a site before a registered domain is ready.
- Preview or test website content.
- Later replace the temporary name with a registered domain.
Because a temporary domain has different capabilities from a registered domain, do not use it as the permanent address for services that depend on custom DNS or domain email.
