How to Rename a Domain in cPanel Print

Current cPanel can rename primary, addon, and parked/alias domains when the account and server configuration allow it.

  1. Open cPanel → Domains → Domains.
  2. Click Manage for the domain.
  3. Click Rename Domain.
  4. Enter a new domain name that does not already exist on the server.
  5. Confirm the rename and click Rename.

cPanel updates associated services such as DNS records, email-account references, and the document root to reflect the new domain name.

Subdomains cannot be renamed. For a different subdomain name, create the new subdomain and migrate the required content/configuration instead.

A cPanel rename does not register the new name for you. The new domain must be a domain you are authorized to use, and its registrar/DNS configuration must point to the hosting environment.
