How to Change a Domain Document Root Print

For eligible non-main domains, cPanel can change the directory the web server uses as the document root.

  1. Open cPanel → Domains → Domains.
  2. Locate the domain and click Manage.
  3. Enter the new relative path in New Document Root.
  4. Click Update.
Changing the setting does not move website files. cPanel changes where the server looks for files, but it does not rearrange the existing content. Move or copy the website files to the new directory when appropriate.

The Main Domain's document root cannot be changed here, and domains that share the Main Domain's document root cannot independently change that shared location.
