A forwarder sends incoming messages for one address to another destination.
- Open cPanel → Email → Forwarders.
- Select the option to add a forwarder.
- Enter the source address and choose its domain.
- Enter the destination email address.
- Create the forwarder.
If you want an existing cPanel mailbox to retain a copy while also forwarding incoming mail, create the mailbox first and then add the forwarder for the same address. In that configuration, the local mailbox keeps a copy and the server forwards another copy to the destination.
Use forwarding carefully
Forwarding can affect troubleshooting and spam handling because a message passes through more than one mail system. If mail appears missing, check both the original mailbox and the destination and use Track Delivery to review what the server did with the message.
