A directory protected through cPanel Directory Privacy also protects its subdirectories through the inherited web-server configuration.
If only one subsection should be private, protect the narrowest directory that contains that content rather than protecting a broad parent directory unnecessarily.
Remember that this protection is for web requests. It does not replace filesystem permissions or access controls for FTP, SFTP, Web Disk, or the cPanel account itself.
