Authoritative nameservers are normally changed at the domain registrar, not in cPanel Zone Editor.
- Identify the domain registrar.
- Determine the exact authoritative nameserver hostnames the domain should use.
- Sign in to the registrar's domain-management interface.
- Replace the current nameservers with the new nameserver set.
- Save the change and allow DNS delegation caches to update.
Do not delete the old DNS zone immediately during a migration. Keep the old DNS serving consistent records until the delegation change has had time to spread.
If DNSSEC is active, handle DS records as part of the migration plan; a stale DS record can break resolution even when the nameservers themselves are correct.
