The correct place to edit DNS depends on which nameservers are authoritative for the domain.
- If the domain uses the cPanel-hosted nameservers for its authoritative DNS, manage its zone in cPanel → Domains → Zone Editor.
- If the domain uses a third-party DNS service, changes made in cPanel may not affect public DNS. Make the record change at the authoritative DNS provider instead.
- Changing the domain's authoritative nameservers is normally performed at the domain registrar, not in cPanel's Zone Editor.
Before troubleshooting a DNS record, first confirm which nameservers the domain currently delegates to.
