Why cPanel Warns Against the Experimental ALIAS DNS Record Print

cPanel can expose an ALIAS DNS record type on systems using PowerDNS when the server administrator enables it. It is sometimes called an ANAME-style record and can alias the zone apex to another hostname.

cPanel strongly recommends not using this record type. Its current documentation describes ALIAS as experimental and not RFC-compliant, and warns that it can cause security issues, break DNSSEC, or make a site inaccessible.

Do not confuse a DNS ALIAS record with a cPanel alias/parked domain. They are different features. Prefer standard DNS records unless a specific architecture requires ALIAS and its risks are understood.
