Use cPanel → Preferences → Password & Security to change the cPanel account password. Current cPanel versions may also expose password changes through Account Preferences.
- Open Password & Security.
- Enter a new strong password or use cPanel's Password Generator.
- Store the new password securely.
- Apply the change.
The cPanel password is separate from individual email, database, FTP, and application passwords. If software or a file-transfer client was intentionally configured with the cPanel system-account password, update that saved credential after changing it.
Use a unique password that is not reused on other services.
