Why a Browser Can Show the Wrong Server Certificate Print

If DNS points a hostname to a different server, the browser can receive that other server's certificate even though cPanel shows a correct certificate locally.

  1. Resolve the hostname and confirm the returned IP address or service destination.
  2. Compare it with the intended hosting destination.
  3. Check both A and AAAA records.
  4. After correcting DNS, allow cached records to expire according to TTL.

This is a DNS-routing problem, not a reason to repeatedly reinstall the same certificate.
