Why a cPanel Backup Can Fail When Disk Space Is Low Print

  • backup, disk-space, quota
  • 0

Creating a backup requires working disk space. Current cPanel documentation warns that an account near or over its quota can fail to back up because the system may be unable to write required files during the backup process.

Before generating a large full backup:

  • Check cPanel Disk Usage.
  • Remove only files you know are unnecessary.
  • Download and delete obsolete manual backup archives that are consuming account space.
  • Avoid starting multiple large backup jobs at the same time.

Do not delete the only known good backup just to make room for a new one unless another verified copy exists elsewhere.
