MIME types tell browsers how to handle file types. Use cPanel → Advanced → MIME Types when an application requires a file extension to be served with a specific media type.
- Enter the MIME type, such as an appropriate
application/...value. - Enter the file extension or extensions.
- Add the mapping.
User-defined MIME mappings can be removed later, but system MIME types cannot be deleted from this interface. Add only mappings required by the application; an incorrect MIME type can cause a browser to display or download content unexpectedly.
