The Indexes interface controls what visitors see when they request a directory that does not have a normal index file.
Available choices include inheriting the parent setting, disabling indexing, showing filenames only, or showing filenames with descriptions.
- Open cPanel → Advanced → Indexes.
- Navigate to the directory.
- Choose Edit.
- Select the desired index behavior.
- Save the change.
Use No Indexing when visitors should not receive a directory listing. This is not a substitute for access authentication when files must actually be private.
