An account near or over quota can fail in ways that do not look like a simple “disk full” message. Uploads, backups, caches, sessions, email delivery, and database-related temporary files may fail when writable space is exhausted.
- Open cPanel → Files → Disk Usage and identify the directories consuming the most space.
- Review old backups, logs, caches, staging copies, and large mailboxes before deleting anything.
- Empty File Manager Trash only after verifying the files are no longer needed.
- Download important backups off-account before removing local copies.
- Retest the original operation after sufficient space is available.
cPanel notes that backup creation for an account near or over quota can fail because the process may be unable to write required files.
